Initial Consultation

Our Initial Consultation service provides clients with an objective assessment of their situation, ensuring they receive expert guidance tailored to their unique circumstances. We act like a triage nurse in a hospital, evaluating the details of your case and recommending the most appropriate course of action.

Whether it’s a simple uncontested divorce, divorce mediation, the preparation of a separation agreement, or litigation, our goal is to help you make informed decisions and navigate the complexities of divorce law with confidence. Our comprehensive approach ensures that all aspects of your situation are considered, including legal fees, offering you the best possible path forward.

What is the purpose of the initial consultation?

The initial consultation aims to provide you with an objective assessment of your situation, including a discussion of your various options.  We will recommend the most appropriate course of action, whether it’s a simple uncontested divorce, divorce mediation, or divorce litigation through the court system.

How long does the initial consultation last?

Typically, the initial consultation lasts anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour, but the duration can vary based on the complexity of your case and the specific issues that need to be addressed.

What documents do I need for the initial consultation?

With rare exception, we do initial consultations by phone or by Zoom.  Please have any relevant documents saved on your computer in PDF format, such as your marriage certificate, tax returns (last 2 years), pay stubs for both you and your spouse, and any court papers you have received.  If needed, you can email us any necessary documents during the initial consultation in order to help us understand your situation better.

Is the initial consultation confidential?

Yes, everything discussed during the initial consultation is confidential. We prioritize your privacy and ensure that your information is protected.

How much does the initial consultation cost?

The cost of the initial consultation will be discussed when you schedule your appointment. We strive to offer affordable and transparent pricing for all our services.
